Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the 7th Prague Workshop on Catheter Ablation. Like in previous years, topic-oriented review lectures followed by full live demonstrations from the electrophysiological laboratory will dominate the meeting. This year, atrial fibrilation has been selected as a leading theme for the whole workshop and you will have an opportunity to watch four different approaches to ablation of this complex arrhythmia, including conventional circumferential lasso mapping, intracardiac echocardiography, three dimensional location system and/or the use of cryoenergy. To provide you with more comprehensive background information, the meeting will start with a series of state-of-the-art lectures on anatomy of the left atrium and pulmonary veins, on pathophysiology of atrial fibrillation and atrial remodelling, on novel concepts of drug treatment, pacing prevention and therapy and/or surgical ablation.
For less experienced, idiopathic ventricular tachycardia originating from the outflow tract was selected as the second topic of the workshop and conventional ablation will be demonstrated.
Interesting case reports and/or other observations will be discussed in a special session devoted to short communications, and the scientific programme will also comprise short industry-sponsored lectures on technical advances in mapping and/or catheter ablation.
Last but not least, you all are cordially invited for get-together reception that will take place in a special place in the middle of historical Prague town centre.
We hope that you will find the meeting both useful and stimulating for your practice and wish you a pleasant stay in the city of Prague.

Head, Department of Cardiology, IKEM

Michna Palace, Újezd 450/40, Prague 1
The baroque Michna Palace with the fountain and an atrium is the gem of the Lesser Town architecture. The first references to this palace date back to 1579.In 1623 the palace was bought by Pavel Michna from Vacinov who gave to the building the shape we can see nowadays and who had the rich interior stucco decoration made. The palace stayed in the possession of the Michna family for almost 50 years. In 1767 the building was gained by the local administration office that installed the military armoury and the munitions production workshop here. The Capital of Prague overtook the Michna Palace in 1914 and in 1921 it has been sold to the „Sokol “ – a physical education association that adjusted the palace to the physical training gyms. Nowadays some of the splendid baroque rooms are used for social events and parties.
