11th Prague Workshop on Catheter Ablation

with Live Demonstrations

March 16 – 18, 2008

Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine Prague, Czech Republic

under the auspices of the Czech Society of Cardiology and its Working Group on Arrhythmias and Cardiac Pacing

WELCOME ADDRESS

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to 11th international Prague workshop on catheter ablation with live demonstrations. This year, the main theme is „Conventional and high-tech approaches“. In other words, our intention was to create scientific programme that would serve both as a tutorial of conventional electrophysiology and as a demonstration of several sophisticated novel technologies such as magnetic or robotic navigation and/or a special toolkit for ablation of atrial fibrillation.

meeting will start with a review of theoretical background necessary for catheter ablation. The main intention is to provide novices or less experienced electrophysiologists with condensed information that they may need to perform catheter ablations. However, even advanced operators may find it of interest as the review will discuss anatomy, ECG diagnostics and the use of sophisticated mapping or imaging.

the first time, there will be live transmissions from another major electrophysiology centre in Prague – Homolka Hospital. This will allow (together with higher capacity of our centre) to run parallel live cases and switch between them as needed. We believe that the new scheme will prove to be more attractive and will enable us to demonstrate more cases. Altogether, we prepared seven live cases that will be traditionally accompanied by review lectures.

in previous years, interesting case reports or the results of your studies will be presented.

As usually, the scientific programme will be followed by a reception that will take place in a special place on Vltava river.

We hope that you will find the workshop interesting and look forward to meeting you in Prague.
